1. Tata Cornell Scholarship
The Tata Cornell Scholarship is awarded to 20 very best Indian scholars each year to fund their undergraduate studies at Cornell University.
The Tata Education and Development Trust- an arm of the Tata Group, under the legacy of Jamsetji Tata, formed an endowment of $25 million to offer financial assistance to meritorious Indian students needing financial aid. All Indian candidates who apply for the courses at Cornell University, and fill out the need-based financial aid form will be considered for this grant.
What Does The Tata Cornell Scholarship Cover?
The Tata Cornell Scholarship will cover an amount up to the full tuition fees based on the candidate’s financial needs. Funding will be provided for the number of semesters required for a student to complete an undergraduate degree. It is applicable for all undergraduate courses except the five-year architecture program as the scholarship only funds up to eight semesters.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- All candidates must have an Indian citizenship
- All candidates must have obtained admission to a four-year undergraduate program at Cornell University.
- All candidates should have attended a secondary school in India.
- A minimum TOEFL score of 100 or an overall IELTS band score of 7.0 is necessary.
- Candidates have to demonstrate that they are eligible for a need-based financial grant.

2. Tata Trusts Medical And Healthcare Scholarships
Tata Trust Medical and Healthcare Scholarship is available to students who want to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in any healthcare or medical science courses.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- All candidates pursuing bachelor’s programmes should have completed their first-year degree.
- Candidates in the first year of a master’s degree can also apply.
- Candidates should have obtained the required cut-off percentage or CGPA in their stream.
- They should be studying in an institution recognised by the government.

What Does The Tata Trusts Medical And Healthcare Scholarship Cover?
The Tata Trust Medical and Healthcare Scholarship partially covers the tuition fees and other academic fees of the selected candidates.
Note:
The candidates receiving stipends or availing benefits from any other scholarship are not eligible to apply for the Tata trust medical and healthcare scholarship.
3. J.N. Tata Loan Endowment Scholarship
Established in 1982, the Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee Tata Endowment For The Higher Education Of Indians provides financial assistance to Indian students who wish to pursue their Postgraduate/Ph.D./Postdoctoral/Research studies abroad (in any stream) by providing loans at low-interest rates. The scholarship is given for studies in all fields, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, or community.
JN Tata Loan Scholarship Amount
The amount of the loan can range between ₹ 1,00,000/- and ₹ 10,00,000/- depending on the academic performance of the candidate in the course for which they are awarded the scholarship.
Partial travel assistance (a maximum of ₹ 50,000/-) may also be recommended along with a ‘gift award’ ranging between ₹ 2,00,000/- and ₹ 7,50,000. The gift award is decided at the sole discretion of the Trustees of the concerned Trusts and will be considered only for those who provide relevant academic proof such as a transcript and a progress report.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should be Indians, not older than 45 years as on June 30, 2024, and graduates of a recognised Indian University with at least 60% marks on average in their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. If the undergraduate degree is not from a recognised University in India, candidates are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates who did not get selected in the previous year/earlier for the loan scholarship and candidates who could not avail of the loan scholarship when they were selected are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who are at the end of the 1st year and entering the second year of their overseas studies (Fall 2024 – Spring 2023) are also eligible to apply. This is applicable only if the minimum duration of the course is 2 years and there is at least one full academic year remaining to complete at the time of award of the loan scholarship, normally by July of any calendar year.
- J N Tata scholars who have fully repaid their existing loan scholarship amount are eligible to apply.
- Candidates in the final year of their degree courses and those awaiting results are eligible to apply. Candidates may apply even if they do not have the admission/offer letters at the time of making the application, from the Universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2024-2025. However, they must update their application status with the Endowment once they secured admission by sending an appropriate email to jnte@tatatruts.org.
- Candidates going abroad for seminars, conferences, training, workshops, paper presentation, undergraduate studies, and any post-graduate degree/diploma/certificates through Distance learning or online medium are not eligible to apply.
- The course to which candidates are admitted must be recognized as a Graduate Program (post-graduate in Indian terminology).

Selection Process
The selection for the JN Tata Loan Scholarship 2024 is highly competitive. There is a rigorous selection process. Apart from consistent academic performance, participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is encouraged. For candidates applying overseas, a good GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS score is extremely important. The statement of purpose also carries considerable weightage in the selection process.
After the initial screening of applications, some candidates are shortlisted to undergo an online test, which will be based on the lines of Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA). This will be followed by an interview, the final step in the selection process.
The final selection decision is based on the following criteria:
- Performance at the interview
- Score of the online test
- Score based on academic results, GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL scores, Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, research work, statement of purpose, and work experience.
The Awards are announced together latest by the first week of July by mail. The Trustees’ decision on the award of scholarships is final.
4. Tata Trusts Professional Enhancement Grant

The Tata Trusts Professional Enhancement Grant is a travel grant for working professionals who wish to enhance their professional skills through training, workshops (except presentations and conferences), and observership programs abroad. Over 50 scholars benefit from this grant every year.
What Does The Tata Trusts Professional Enhancement Grant Cover?
The grant covers airfare, visa application charges, accommodation (in rare cases), registration charges, and more. The scholarship will be received in the form of a travel grant.

- They should be open to traveling abroad to enhance their professional skills

5. Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Scholarship

The Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust offers scholarships to Indian women graduates of reputed universities wishing to pursue their higher studies abroad. It is a merit-based overseas masters scholarship program only for Indian women. The scholarship has a rigorous selection procedure. Each year, up to 10 women benefit from this scholarship.

Scholarship Amount
A gift scholarship amount towards the tuition fee, approximately between Rupees three and six lakhs per selected student is awarded depending on the shortlisted candidate’s performance in the interview. Candidates later also have to show a ‘proof of fund’.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- An Indian woman graduated from a reputed university with a consistent and remarkable academic record.
- Must have applied for admission to a reputed university or institution in the United States, UK, or Europe for the year 2024-25.
- A work experience of two years is preferred.
