Why Study at TH Köln University of Applied Sciences ?

1. Tuition-Free with IELTS 6.0 - More Accessible Than Uni Cologne

TH Köln is tuition-free under NRW policy - identical to the University of Cologne. But its IELTS minimum of 6.0 (vs Uni Cologne's 6.5) and overall acceptance rate of ~60% (vs Uni Cologne's ~35%) make it accessible to a wider range of Indian students. For applicants with 6.0 IELTS or 6.5–7.5 CGPA, TH Köln is often the stronger realistic target in Cologne.

2. Compulsory Industry Internship Semester

Every TH Köln degree includes a mandatory Praxissemester - typically in the 5th or 6th semester - where students complete a full-semester internship at a partner company. With Ford Europe, Bayer, Lanxess, RTL, and Cologne's extensive SME base as partners, this compulsory internship often leads directly to thesis projects and graduate job offers.

3. Multiple English-Taught Programs

TH Köln offers several English-taught Masters programs including MSc Automation and Robotics, MSc Computer Science, and programs at its International School of Management (ISM partnership). For Indian students without full C1 German, these English-taught tracks provide access to a quality applied sciences degree without language barriers.

4. Cologne's Industry Ecosystem - Same City as University of Cologne

TH Köln students access the same Cologne employer ecosystem as University of Cologne students - Ford Europe, Bayer, Lanxess, RTL Group, REWE, Deutsche Lufthansa Technik, and Germany's largest advertising and media sector. The NRW Semester Ticket covers the same NRW network - Bonn (30 min), Düsseldorf (30 min). TH Köln graduates are well-regarded by Cologne's applied engineering and business employers.
