Why Study at Dresden University of Fine Arts ?

1. Founded 1764 - Germany's Second Oldest Fine Arts Academy

HfBK Dresden's 260-year heritage shapes a distinctive European academic fine arts tradition - studio-based, technique-intensive, connected to German and Central European artistic heritage. Its faculty have included some of Germany's most significant artists, and its restoration programs are internationally recognised.

2. Dresden's Kunstsammlungen - 15 World-Class Museums as Your Campus

The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden includes the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Raphael, Vermeer, Canaletto), Grünes Gewölbe (one of Europe's richest treasure chambers), Porzellansammlung, and 12 more museums - all accessible to HfBK students at reduced rates. For Indian fine arts students, this collection depth is unmatched at any German arts university

3. Conservation & Restoration - Baroque City Laboratory

HfBK Dresden's conservation and restoration programs benefit from the world's most concentrated living laboratory of Baroque restoration - the Frauenkirche (rebuilt 1994–2005 from 8,000 recovered stone fragments), the Semperoper, and dozens of palace facades provide ongoing real-world restoration study objects unavailable anywhere else.

4. Tuition-Free - Exceptional Value for European Arts Education

RISD (Rhode Island) charges US$56,000/year. Goldsmiths London charges £23,000/year. HfBK Dresden is free as a public Saxon institution - for Indian fine arts students who reach the portfolio standard, this is among the best-value fine arts educations in the world.
