With France aiming to host 30,000 Indian students by 2030, interest is rising. Students planning to study in France should understand living expenses, tuition fees and leading institutions before applying.

France is strengthening its appeal for Indian students, with new visa measures and academic initiatives aimed at expanding enrollment. At present, around 10,000 Indian students’ study in France, and the target is to triple that number by 2030.

Living costs depend on location. According to Campus France India, students should budget around 1,000 euros per month in Paris and about 800 euros in other cities. Expenses typically include housing, food and transport. Choosing public universities and shared accommodation can significantly reduce overall costs.

For non-EU students enrolling for the first time in public institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, annual registration fees are 2,895 euros for a Bachelor’s degree and 3,941 euros for a Master’s degree. The French government subsidizes a large portion of education costs.

Among the top ranked institutions are Universite PSL, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Universite Paris Saclay and Sorbonne University, all recognized globally for academic excellence.
