The British Council has opened applications for its Women in STEM Scholarships 2026-27, offering fully funded postgraduate study in the UK to women from India and South Asia.
The British Council has invited applications for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM for the 2026-27 academic year. The programme offers fully funded postgraduate study opportunities to women from South Asia, including India, aimed at addressing gender gaps in science and technology while strengthening India-UK collaboration in research and innovation.
A total of 25 scholarships will be available for South Asian candidates in partnership with five UK universities: the University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of Manchester, Queen Mary University of London, and Brunel University London.
Each scholarship, valued at a minimum of £40,000, covers full tuition fees, living expenses, travel and visa costs, health coverage, and English language support where required. Beyond academic study, scholars gain access to UK alumni and professional networks, supporting long-term collaboration and continued engagement in science and innovation.
Globally, 90 scholarships will be awarded across 30 countries in 2026-27. The programme supports one-year master’s degrees and forms part of the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships initiative focused on advancing gender equality in STEM.
