New program offers US undergraduates hands-on research exposure in India.
Kennesaw State University and Birla Carbon have launched a new global research internship program that will send US undergraduate students to India for immersive research experience beginning in 2026.
Under the Birla Carbon India Study Abroad Program, up to 12 students from Kennesaw State’s College of Science and Mathematics will work on original research projects at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Goa. Students will begin their projects at Kennesaw State during the spring semester and continue their research in India over the summer alongside BITS faculty and students.
The program builds on a 14-year partnership between Kennesaw State and Birla Carbon and is supported by a $164,000 investment from Birla Carbon. It is designed to provide early global research exposure, strengthen academic collaboration, and encourage joint publications between US and Indian institutions.
Faculty leaders from both sides highlighted the program’s focus on cultural exchange, applied research, and long-term academic collaboration. Kennesaw State plans to host a symposium after the students return to showcase research outcomes and explore future expansion of international partnerships.
