The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was founded in 2013 through the consolidation of the University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Texas at Brownsville, with campuses across Edinburg, Brownsville, and Harlingen, Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border. It enrolls approximately 32,000 students and its colleges include the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship and the College of Engineering and Computer Science. UTRGV is one of the largest Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the United States and includes the UTRGV School of Medicine, established in 2016 as one of the newest public medical schools in Texas.
