Canada has launched a new fast-track visa program targeting U.S. H-1B holders, particularly those affected by recent U.S. immigration reforms. The new policy comes as the U.S. implements a $100,000 fee for new H-1B applications, a move that has reshaped employer hiring patterns. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called the program “an opportunity to attract skilled professionals” and confirmed that formal applications will open soon.

Backed by over C$3.4 billion in funding, the initiative includes research grants, infrastructure support, and streamlined credential recognition for international professionals. A dedicated C$97 million Foreign Credential Recognition Fund will fast-track licensing for globally trained workers, particularly in healthcare and construction.
