British Airways has rolled out a special ‘student travel assistance’ service for Indian students heading to London Heathrow from five major Indian cities this summer. The service, available until the end of October 2025, is aimed at making the travel experience smoother for students beginning their academic sessions in the UK.
The initiative, described by the airlines as its first of its kind, offers dedicated support right from departure. Students can access separate check-in counters at their airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, where the airline operated 56 weekly flights.

“For many students, especially those flying overseas for the first time, the journey can feel overwhelming,” said Helen O’Connor, Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific Airports at British Airways, in a release statement. “Our team across India and the UK have worked hard to introduce this service so students feel reassured and supported from the moment they arrive at the airport in India until they reach their destination.”
The airline noted that the launch comes at a time when international student mobility from India is on the rise. Data from India’s Ministry of External Affairs shows that as of January 2024, more than 1.33 million Indian students were enrolled in higher education abroad, with the UK remaining a popular choice because of its academic opportunities and cultural ties.
Earlier this year, British Airways introduced a ‘Meet and Assist’ service for Indian travellers needing extra help at airports, including support in local languages. The new student-focused service, the airline said, builds on those efforts and reflects its broader investment in airport facilities, digital tools, and onboard services.
