Temple University, also known as Temple or TU, is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was established in 1884 by Russell Conwell, a Baptist minister, and his congregation, Grace Baptist Church of Philadelphia, which was initially known as Baptist Temple. The name was later changed to Temple College of Philadelphia on May 12, 1888. Eventually, in 1907, the institution underwent a transformation and became a research university. Temple University is renowned for its provision of professional education and is recognized as one of the major contributors to Pennsylvania's professional workforce. It is classified as an "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity."
