About University

Arizona State University (ASU) is a well-known public research university located in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It was founded in 1885 as the Territorial Normal School with the initial purpose of training teachers for public schools. Over time, ASU has grown to become one of the largest public universities in the United States. ASU is governed by the Arizona Board of Regents and is classified as an "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity" institution.
