The university has a rich history, with its roots dating back to the School of Medicine and Surgery established in 1834 and the College of Physical Science founded in 1871. These colleges eventually merged to form King's College, which later became the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The university is organized into three faculties: the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, and Engineering. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various subject areas.
