It was originally established as Napier Technical College in 1964 and was named after the renowned Scottish mathematician and philosopher, John Napier. The college transitioned into a university in 1992 and was officially inaugurated by Lord Douglas-Hamilton, becoming Napier University. In 2009, the university underwent a name change and became known as Edinburgh Napier University. The institution is comprised of three main campuses in Edinburgh, namely Merchiston, Craiglockhart, and Sighthill. It offers a diverse range of educational programs, including transnational programs for students studying abroad or online. The university attracts a significant number of international and EU students from various countries around the world.
