There has been a dramatic decline in the number of Indian students receiving study permits for Canada, with approvals dropping by over 65% between April and June compared to the same period last year. According to new data from Canada’s immigration department (IRCC), approvals fell from nearly 56,000 in 2023 to under 18,000 in 2024. This marks a significant tightening of a previously popular education route for Indian students, raising concerns among aspirants and stakeholders in the international education sector.
