The IELTS exam fee in India will increase to ₹19,000 starting April 1, 2026. Students can still register at the current ₹18,000 rate until March 31, 2026, even if their test date is scheduled later in the year.
Indian students planning to take the IELTS exam will face a fee increase from April 1, 2026. According to IDP IELTS India, the test fee will rise from ₹18,000 to ₹19,000 for both Academic and General Training tests.
Candidates who complete their registration before March 31, 2026 can still pay the current ₹18,000 fee, even if their exam date is scheduled later in the year. Education experts advise students targeting Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 admissions to book early to avoid the higher cost and secure preferred test slots.
Other IELTS related fees remain unchanged for now. IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration and IELTS on Computer for UKVI currently cost ₹18,250, while IELTS Life Skills tests are priced at ₹17,000. The One Skill Retake option costs ₹12,000.
IELTS continues to be one of the most widely accepted English language tests for students applying to universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Thousands of Indian students take the exam each year as part of their study abroad applications.
