What is the GMAT exam?

GMAT, short for the Graduate Management Admission Test, is a standardized test required to pursue a graduate program in management abroad. Many Indian business schools also accept GMAT scores for admission.

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the conducting authority of the exam. This 3 hours and 7 minutes long test comprises 4 parts:

Quantitative Reasoning (QR)
Verbal Reasoning (VR)
Integrated Reasoning (IR)
Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

Here’s a clear breakdown of the scoring system:

Main GMAT Score (200-800): This score combines your performance in the Quantitative and Verbal sections. Most test-takers score between 400 and 600.

Section Scores: The GMAT has separate scores for Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) and Integrated Reasoning (IR). These do not impact your main score but are important individually:

AWA: Scored on a scale of 0-6.
IR: Scored on a scale of 1-8.

Percentile Rankings: Your main score also comes with a percentile ranking, indicating how you performed relative to other test-takers. For example, a score of 700 is around the 89th percentile.

To increase your chances of getting into Ivy League or top business schools, aim for a score between 690 and 700.

How to find GMAT 2024 exam dates?

Here’s your step-by-step guide to finding and registering for GMAT exam dates:

Step 1: Register here

To find out about GMAT exam dates in India or schedule an appointment in your city, you must first register for the exam. This involves completing several steps, including entering your personal information and verifying your profile.

Step 2: Pick an exam center

After completing the steps mentioned above, you will have to search for your exam center and proceed to book an appointment at your nearest exam center. Here is a screenshot of the screen where you can perform these actions:

After searching for exam centers in your city, as shown in the image below, a list of nearby exam centers will be displayed on your screen.

Step 3: Pick a date

To select the next GMAT exam date, check all the available slots in your exam center.

Choose the date that suits you best and proceed with the registration process.

Step 4: Pay your exam fees

After finalizing a GMAT exam date, pay your exam fees. The exam fee in India is INR 22,000.

Step 5: Submit your application

Finally, you can submit your registration form and complete the process. Upon successful confirmation, you will receive a notification from the conducting authority.
