Curtin University, formerly known as Curtin University of Technology and Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT), is an Australian public research university located in Bentley, Perth, Western Australia. It was named after John Curtin, who served as the Prime Minister of Australia from 1941 to 1945. The university gained its university status in 1986 through legislation passed by the Parliament of Western Australia. It has expanded its presence internationally with campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, and Mauritius, as well as connections to 90 exchange universities in 20 countries. Curtin University consists of five main faculties and over 95 specialist centers. It was also active in Sydney from 2005 to 2016. As a member of the Australian Technology Network, Curtin is actively involved in research across various academic and practical fields. Additionally, it is the only Western Australian university whose students have won the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering's Postgraduate Student Gold Medal.
