ShiftED 2026 has launched Playing God, an interactive 1.2-hour challenge aimed at working professionals considering study abroad options. The simulation places participants in the shoes of a mid-career professional at a crossroads, prompting them to evaluate whether to continue building a domestic career or pursue a global Master’s degree.
Participants work in teams to analyse factors such as return on investment, financial planning for education abroad, global job market dynamics including visa longevity and employment security, and opportunity cost of leaving the workforce. Each team navigates real-world variables and unexpected strategic curveballs that reflect shifting economic and career conditions.
The session also offers networking opportunities with industry leaders and insights into scholarships, banking options, and programme choices, enabling professionals to make informed decisions about international education. Playing God seeks to simulate the complexities of global mobility decisions in a controlled environment, helping attendees assess outcomes before committing to long-term study abroad plans.
